For Your Comfort
Although we practice compassionate dental care, some patients may benefit from additional comfort measures. Our dental office offers nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation to promote a positive dental experience. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, encourages relaxation during treatment without causing lingering side effects.
With oral sedation, patients receive a dose of anti-anxiety medication before their appointment. This medication allows them to respond to Dr. Tartagni but remember little about the procedure afterwards. Because the drowsiness can last for several hours after oral sedation, a friend or relative must drive you to and from our office.
You may benefit from oral sedation if you have:
- Stress, anxiety, or fear about dentistry
- Limited time to complete several treatments
- A sensitive gag reflex
- Trouble numbing with local anesthetic
- Back or neck pain that prevents you from resting comfortably
